(CON-RCO) is requesting “Letters of Intent” from potential workshop presenters for the 2nd National Obesity Summit to be held on April 28-May 1, 2011 at the Le Centre Sheraton Hotel Montr
é
al, Quebec. Letters of intent should be framed around a full day session (8 hours) or a half day session (4 hours). Letters of intent must be submitted by June 14, 2010. Full workshop proposals will be due Sept 30, 2010.
We solicit letters of intent on any topic of interest to the obesity community.
The conference will bring together approximately 1200 participants from a wide range of educational institutions, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and the private sector. The goals of this Summit are:

To provide an interactive forum to share current understanding of the causes, complications, treatments and prevention approaches for obesity
·
To be a platform for exchange of obesity research from epidemiology and public health to cell biology, energy regulation, clinical management and health policy
·
To support students and new professionals and increase interdisciplinary capacity among future obesity researchers and health professionals in Canada
·
To provide networking opportunities for creating inter-sectoral research and knowledge translation partnerships
All Letters of Intent are due by June 14, 2010. And must include:

A completed Letter of Intent Application;
·
The Title for the proposed workshop;
·
A Workshop Description (limit to 100 words);
·
An Outline (Learning Activities/Outcomes) of proposed workshop;
·
A resume for the Primary Presenter and all Co-presenter(s) participating.
Workshop Letters of Intent of must be submitted by e-mail to summit@obesitynetwork.ca . Mail or fax will not be accepted. Applicants will be notified of the letter of intent review outcome on or before June 30, 2010. Further instructions will be given to authors at that time. Presenters will be expected to cover their own travel and hotel accommodations. Sessions may be cancelled without adequate enrollment. Workshops will be conducted in English.
Review Process
All letters of intent will be evaluated as to their content, quality and appropriateness to overall Summit goals. We will try to accommodate the majority of proposals; however, the final decision about acceptance of submissions will be made by the Summit Planning Committee.
